When We Dissever

What hast thou gotten
Besides that stinking and rotten
Corpse? That lifeless body
Which those days, those gaudy

Days, like the gentle fly,
Make it so ravishing and putrefied!
When thou becomest like this dove,
Remember that thou still hast my love!

And though parted by our two addled carrion,
We have to recall to carry on
With our souls enclosed by the vultures,
With our minds filled with torment and culture!
